Responsibilities:
- Support the research and identification of emerging trends, technologies, and innovative approaches relevant to the UN's work in Ecuador across different sectors (e.g., health, education, environment, social inclusion).
- Assist in the mapping of the innovation ecosystem in Ecuador, including identifying relevant startups, tech hubs, research institutions, and civil society organizations.
- Contribute to the design and facilitation of workshops, brainstorming sessions, and design thinking processes to generate innovative solutions to development challenges.
- Support the development and piloting of innovative projects, including the development of prototypes, user testing, and impact assessment.
- Assist in the exploration and application of digital technologies (e.g., mobile applications, data analytics, artificial intelligence) to enhance the delivery and impact of UN programs.
- Contribute to the development of partnerships with innovation actors, including the private sector, academia, and civil society.
- Support the development of communication materials and knowledge products to showcase innovative UN initiatives in Ecuador.
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of innovation projects, including the collection and analysis of data on their effectiveness and scalability.
- Provide support in the integration of innovative approaches into existing UN programs and strategies.
- Perform other tasks related to innovation as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Innovation Studies, Design Thinking, Business Administration, Technology, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Understanding of innovation concepts, methodologies (e.g., lean startup, agile), and trends in digital technologies and social innovation.
- Desirable experience (including volunteering or internships) in innovation projects, startup environments, technology development, or social entrepreneurship.
- Familiarity with the Ecuadorian innovation ecosystem is an advantage.
- Skills in research, analysis, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
- Proficiency in computer tools and digital technologies.
- Fluency in Spanish (oral and written). Knowledge of English is an asset.
